@gr36 Ah, I have something similar. Except for my link posts I now have an external link icon before, and a hash symbol for the permalink. Also, the date serves as an additional permalink.

<h1 id="title">
    {{#has all='canonical_url'}}
        <a href="{{canonical_url}}" class="underline"><i class="fas fa-external-link-alt"></i> {{title}}</a> <a href="{{url}}" class="permalink">#</a>
    {{else}}
        <a href="{{url}}">{{title}}</a>
    {{/has}}
</h1>

<div id="meta">
    {{#has all='canonical_url'}}
        <a href="{{canonical_url}}"><span>{{date published_at format="Do MMMM YYYY"}}</span></a>
    {{else}}
        <span>{{date published_at format="Do MMMM YYYY"}}</span>
    {{/has}}
</div>

@gr36 The text shown below the post is the full text, or at least, it’s my commentary on the link. I’m trying to make it like the Daring Fireball link list format, where you want to send a user to an external link but add some small commentary.

@peterimoore Thanks!

@mdrockwell That's interesting, I didn't think about the date. Doesn't do any harm having both I guess.

I agree with you for the title, I was thinking about some kind of symbol to use as a prefix for all link posts, but I haven't seen anything suitable yet. I do differentiate with the underline, but I don't think that's enough to shwo that the link is to the actual source.

@numericcitizen I wouldn’t say that’s an issue for myself, I use Gluon for Micro.blog as I use this primarily as a social network. But I do rely on my existing automations I’ve built in Shortcuts to publish to my Ghost blog.

@numericcitizen I guess lucky for us there are quite a lot of options to choose from!

@canion I’ve had a glance at Drafts before, although not heavily used it, and it never felt right. That was a while ago, so it may be beneficial to have another look.

@mdrockwell That's cool, there's always a few comments from people when there's cameras turned off in my company.

That's true, it depends on what type of meeting it is I guess. I think it would be a good fit for a morning standup/catchup meeting though.

@mdrockwell I think I may try it too. Although my team/company seem pretty set on making everything a video call.

@ChrisHannah Along with the new title case formats, there will be a few more things in the next update:

There's still a tiny bit of work to do, but I'll write a more detailed post when everything is finished.

@AlanGMarz I totally understand that. It's hard to stick to a routine when you have so many interests.

@jasraj Ah, it appears they took down the livestream video, but it's available here www.youtube.com/watch I think I might have to try and go to one of his shows when everything is back to normal.

@mdrockwell thanks! That one's my favourite out of the bunch too

@aa That's an interesting idea. It wouldn't suit most link-based newsletters, but one that's based around longer-form writing would be a good fit I think.

@mcg nice, that looks pretty helpful!

@mdrockwell Thanks, I'll keep that in mind!

@gr36 Mine is the exactly the same. Although the whole company is working from home, we haven't adapted the way we work at all. Too much relies on being constantly monitoring message rooms, video calls, and anything but real work.

@mdrockwell 👀 I think I may have to check that out

@muhh It does save it offline, although I'm not sure if it does this in the background or if you need to open the app to trigger it. That's a really nice service!

@gr36 Thanks! Hopefully the dates and rules don’t change.

@peterimoore I gave Werdsmith a go, but it looks like it’s designed to be used by novel writers and screenwriters. Doesn’t feel like a general purpose writing app at all.

@smithtimmytim Totally. And even if it atttracts people that don't agree with you, presenting yourself honestly and in an open way invites discussion rather than confrontation.

@AlanGMarz I'm starting to wonder if it's a rite of passage, or maybe just a journey of discovering what you should ignore, and what you should focus on. One thing is for sure, I think it's a lot easier to write when you're doing it for yourself.

@gr36 We’re doing a warmup week this week to get ready for it, so just a few of us are using this to write a few posts and test out how the prompts work.

I would say the best place is the Discord channel, since there is a bit of discussion around the challenge, and also a topics channel where they are announced.

Although you can directly find the prompts on the challenge website. I think Jeff has them going out at 8 am EST/1 pm GMT every day.

@mjdescy I’m more hopeful of AR than VR, but I agree, there aren’t any real benefits that appeal to me at the moment. I guess it depends on how intrusive it’s made. You could make a VR headset with a camera feed, or something like Google Glass. I think there’s a lot of possibilities, but I can’t see it not being at least partly invasive. There’s also things like holographic projection, which I think would be better.
